We all see them on the screen—that undaunted confidence. That regal poise. Those women who are at the top of their game in their careers, super-moms who never seem to miss a child’s function, figures that seem to defy gravity, and skin that glows so stunningly, it’s got me seriously reconsidering the existence of demi-goddesses.
So naturally, I spent an embarrassing amount of time researching, digging, probing, and perhaps a little snooping into what made them seem so glorious—but I finally found the answer. The key to how those L.A. ladies seem to have it all. The solution was annoyingly simple yet opened an entirely new mystery to pursue. After all the buzzwords, catchphrases, and fad-filled dialogue, it really boiled down to two things: heart rate and the right snacks.
No magic pills, no boons from Mt. Olympus. It’s really as simple as what you do with your body and what you put in it.
So, what does heart rate have to do with you looking like a Hollywood queen? If you’re like so many others, you already spend at least a few hours a week in the gym—probably as much as your busy schedule will allow. And if you’re anything like me, there’s frequent frustration with not seeing results, or worse—getting results, only to fall backward again.
So, here’s one secret I learned that has helped me greatly within the gym. Keeping your heart rate above 120 bpm while working out. By keeping your heart rate above 120 bpm, you are optimizing the "fat burning" zone and maximizing your body's ability to use stored fat as fuel.
Next up, healthy snacks - the classic love/hate relationship we wrestle with every single day. It's hard not to feel like the world is against us when we're constantly being told that snacking or indulging in our favorite treats is the villain in our health journey.
